Intercession https://mobilisenow.com Tue, 11 Apr 2017 11:23:23 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7 The Importance of Every Believer Praying https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1706 Thu, 24 Nov 2016 08:52:51 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1706 If you read Mathew 6 verses 5, 6 and 7, you will see Jesus does not give us the option of praying or not praying. He says, “When you pray.” Paul writes in Ephesians 6 verse 18,  “Pray at all times in the Spirit.” This is a command and not a suggestion! Another place he commands prayer is in 1 Timothy chapter 2. Prayer is not an option. James chapter 5 verse 16 tells us that, “The heartfelt continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available.” If heartfelt gutsy prayer releases God’s power to work, we are foolish not to cooperate with and flow in this power of God.

When Jesus was on the earth, He did only what He saw the Father doing (John5v19), and spoke only what He was told to say (John 12v49 and 50).  If He was so in tune with the Father why did He need to pray? See Hebrews 5 v7. How about Paul, who says in Gal 2v20, “It is not I but Christ in me Who lives!”

Why did he need to pray? What about ourselves? Why do we need to pray?

Jesus prayed and still prays (Heb 7v25), Paul prayed and we ought to pray because our God has chosen to work through the agency of prayer. Read John 15 verse 16 and get really blessed.

Urgent Prayer Focus: PM Netanyahu and his plea to stand with Israel https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1606 Sat, 17 Oct 2015 08:54:01 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1606 1 Timothy 2: 1-4: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Last week was the annual summit of the United Nations General Assembly, which was attended by Presidents and Prime Ministers of almost every nation.  In PM  Netanyahu’s speech to the General Assembly, (October 1st) he spoke powerfully, with great honesty and passion about the possible consequences of the nuclear deal with Iran, about Iran’s aggressive actions in the last six months, about Israel’s continued goal to defend her people, and at the same time her desire to build for peace with surrounding nations. In addition, he outlined some of the good values of Israel, such as protecting holy and sacred sites of all religions and offering medical treatment to war victims from Syria. All this in stark contrast to the destructive actions of Iran and ISIS.

In his conclusion, he  made a passionate appeal to the United Nations, and all who will listen to stand with Israel as the country that is standing in the breach, ‘– proudly and courageously, defending freedom and progress.’

I was very moved by his speech as were many Israelis. I quote commentator David Silver of Out Of Zion Ministries ‘ We are very proud of our Prime Minister. He truly is what his name means – Netanyahu = given by God.’

I have been moved to deeper intercession for Bibi, as he stands for freedom and God’s way and I would like to encourage you to take about an hour of your time to read his speech or listen to the Youtube recording and spend some time in prayer for this leader and for Israel. The scripture above shows us that this is God’s will, so that we will lead a life of peace in which the Gospel can be preached and the Kingdom extended.

Some key points from his speech:

  • …. after three days of listening to world leaders praise the nuclear deal with Iran, I begin my speech today by saying: Ladies and Gentlemen, check your enthusiasm at the door. You see, this deal doesn’t make peace more likely. By fueling Iran’s aggressions with billions of dollars in sanctions relief, it makes war more likely
  • Unleashed and unmuzzled, Iran will go on the prowl, devouring more and more prey. In the wake of the nuclear deal, Iran spending billions of dollars on weapons and satellites.
  • Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said five days after the nuclear deal was reached: “Our policies towards the arrogant government of the United States will not change.”
  • Ladies and Gentlemen, I have long said that the greatest danger facing our world is the coupling of militant Islam with nuclear weapons. And I’m gravely concerned that the nuclear deal with Iran will prove to be the marriage certificate of that unholy union.
  • Israel will not allow Iran to break in, to sneak in or to walk in to the nuclear weapons club. I know that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons remains the official policy of the international community. But no one should question Israel’s determination to defend itself against those who seek our destruction.
  • So here’s my message to the rulers of Iran: Your plan to destroy Israel will fail. Israel will not permit any force on earth to threaten its future.
  • And here’s my message to all the countries represented here: Whatever resolutions you may adopt in this building, whatever decisions you may take in your capitals, Israel will do whatever it must do to defend our state and to defend our people.
  • Israel remains committed to achieving peace with the Palestinians as well. Israelis know the price of war
  • Yet Israel, Israel will always respect the sacred shrines of all. In a region plagued by violence and by unimaginable intolerance, in which Islamic fanatics are destroying the ancient treasures of civilization, Israel stands out as a towering beacon of enlightenment and tolerance. Far from endangering the holy sites, it is Israel that ensures their safety. Because unlike the powers who have ruled Jerusalem in the past, Israel respects the holy sites and freedom of worship of all – Jews, Muslims, Christians, everyone.
  • Israel is civilization’s front line in the battle against barbarism. So here’s a novel idea for the United Nations: Instead of continuing the shameful routine of bashing Israel, stand with Israel.   Stand with Israel as we check the fanaticism at our door. Stand with Israel as we prevent that fanaticism from reaching your door. Ladies and Gentlemen, Stand with Israel because Israel is not just defending itself. More than ever, Israel is defending you.

Feedback from the Shiloh Ministries Intercession Conference https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1568 Fri, 12 Jun 2015 16:02:48 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1568 We have just had the Shiloh Ministries Intercessors conference in Southampton UK on the 5th and 6th of June. What an amazing time it was. What an atmosphere of God’s presence. What a unity and commitment to pray and worship there was amongst the folk there.

On Friday I was teaching on the release of power when the church prays.

James 5:16 tells us the earnest heartfelt prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available.

Then we looked at Paul and Silas praying in jail in Acts 16 and what happened there. An earthquake shook that place to pieces. Looking in Rev 5:8 we see the prayers of the saints contained in golden bowls before the throne of God. In Rev 8:1-5 we see these bowls containing incense and the prayers of the saints, dipped into the fire on the altar and flung to the earth. What follows is amazing. Lightning flashes, thunder, loud rumblings and an earthquake.

Psa 29:7. “The voice of the Lord splits and flashes forth forked lightning.”

Praying with God in the Holy Spirit is amazing. Something was shifted in the UK last weekend.

I have cut the following from an email sent to me by Peter Allen today, Friday 12th of June.

“It’s God’s raw, holy, awesome beautiful presence we crave, we are love sick for the Bridegroom Amen and we are getting the Bride ready for Him Hallelujah.

I don’t know if you heard the news/ weather forecast but on Friday 5th June there was 8,000 lightning strikes in the UK right through to early hours sat Morning . The PAGA of Yahweh, His Intercession

Job 36:32 He covers His hand with the lightning and commands it to strike (to Paga) Hit the Mark

I don’t know what else was going on in the UK on Friday 5th , But I do know that our deep intimate Worship to God and our Prayers and intercession, were shifting the atmosphere from the moment we gathered

And God was answering with His Paga! Awesome God.”

End of quote.

This power can be released everywhere the saints get together and pray in unity! Come on beloved, every one of you who are in Christ, release the rivers of prayer from your innermost beings. Pray in the Spirit.

A Call to the Body of Christ to Pray in the Spirit. https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1554 Wed, 03 Jun 2015 12:45:11 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1554 A Call to the Body of Christ to Pray in the Spirit.

I was praying on Wednesday morning the 3rd of June 2015 with a concern for the body of Christ in my heart. We see many churches shrivelling up, corruption in governments, lack of penetration of the gospel, apathy in the saints, persecution increasing and good being called evil and evil being called good. Christians are being prejudiced against and many are even being killed. I sensed the call of God for the body of Christ to release Kingdom atmosphere to stop this.

It is time for the saints to rise up to release the atmosphere of Heaven!

The Amazon river is the biggest river in the world in terms of volume of water that flows out of it in the rainy season. Thousands of rivers flow into it to form this body of water. In flood it pushes fresh water hundreds of miles out to sea. Anything resisting its flow gets pushed aside. This shows what happens when rivers flow together.

In John 7:38-39 Jesus says Rivers of living water will flow from the innermost beings of those who believe. He was speaking of the Spirit. Praying in the Spirit releases rivers of prayer. Imagine if 10,000 saints in each nation they live in, let these rivers flow together from them into a Holy Spirit flood. This is very easy to do. Each one just has to just decide to do it. This Holy Spirit flood would begin to push darkness out of every nation where the saints do this.

I have been in prayer meetings all over the world and seen few very fervent effective prayer meetings where all the saints in the gatherings, are praying simultaneously, with all their strength in the Spirit, at a level that is required to change the atmosphere in their nation by causing a Holy Spirit flood.

In 1 Timothy 2:1 Paul urges petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be offered for all men. Why is this? Because it changes the atmosphere when these prayers are offered. Good atmosphere causes men to be saved (verse 4). Good atmosphere leads to heavenly seed flourishing and producing. The rivers of Spirit inspired prayer push aside bad atmosphere and replace it with the atmosphere of the Kingdom of God.

I believe God spoke to me and said, “Vision 10,000!”

Vision 10,000 is to get 10,000 people in each country to pray in the Spirit fervently and effectively.

I can help with tools to equip people to pray in the Spirit and in my book show you how to successfully run corporate prayer meetings, but I cannot do it for you. Each one of you has to decide to do this for yourself.

If you think the Kingdom of God has any value to your nation, towns and cities, then get involved in prayer and increase the influence of the Spirit where you live by releasing Kingdom atmosphere from your innermost being. Your life will be changed if you do this.

Pray in the Spirit!

How to get your Breakthrough https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1273 Wed, 04 Dec 2013 10:03:42 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1273

Breakthrough has a sound. Victory has a sound. It was a sound that brought down the walls of Jericho. We need the sound of breakthrough in our lives. I have heard many Christians talking about their need for a breakthrough in their lives. This has prompted me to search this out. The Lord spoke to me and said, “Breakthrough has a sound!” We need to agree with this sound.

The Amplified Bible says in Matt 18v19, “Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree, (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever (anything and everything) they may ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. “

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon defines “agree together” in Matt 18v19 as:  to sound together, be in accord together as musical instruments, to harmonize.

So we need to harmonize with the sound of breakthrough in the heavenlies. We will then see it manifest on the earth in our lives. What does this mean in plain words? You can either stir yourself in the Spirit and get to a place where you make the sound of breakthrough by yourself, or get to a corporate meeting where this happens, or get a recording of the “Breakthrough” sound, put it on nice and loud in your house and harmonize with it. In other words join in with the sound the recording releases. (Break the sound barrier with your own voice). The sound of “Breakthrough”carries the power for the “Breakthrough”. The Words Jesus spoke were sound. The words of God spoken out your mouth are sound! Play the sound of Breakthrough over and over in your house. Agree with it. Declare your need met as you agree with the sound!

Go to  www.mobilisenow.com  for a free download. Hover your mouse over “Media”, go down the list in the drop down to the Battle in Wales, right click and download. Let the sound of Breakthrough fill your house. Harmonise with it and agree with it.

Please write your testimony in the comments box as things in your lives are shifted and reordered.

The Battle for Wales Nov 2013 https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1201 https://mobilisenow.com/?p=1201#respond Fri, 29 Nov 2013 11:02:46 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=1201 A week ago we were in Northern Wales praying in the Holy Spirit for the nation. Here is a brief recording of one of the pivotal moments in the battle. You will sense the victory that was enforced. Last night (Thursday) I had a phone call from Pastor Nico Simon from Wales. They had just had another prayer meeting and the presence of God was so strong the people did not want to go home.

Things to look out for as you listen to the track:

1. Notice the pressure we release into the heavenlies. It is sustained and continued until the victory is enforced.
2. We pray from our bellies. The rivers flow from our innermost beings. These are not head originated prayers.
3. Notice the rise and falls of the prayer waves and the tempo changes. Elijah rose and fell in his prayer tempo in 1 Kings 18v42 onwards.
4. We do not change our focus or direction until we have finished the flow of what the Holy Spirit is doing.
5. We interpret what is happening and keep our minds attentive to the language, the intensity and the pressure of what the Holy Spirit is doing.
6. We only stop praying when we have the peace of God.
7. Notice the roar of the Lion. Is 42v13

What is ‘Praying with God’ all about? https://mobilisenow.com/?p=506 Sat, 05 Jun 2010 14:56:41 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=506 Intercession Strategies https://mobilisenow.com/?p=77 https://mobilisenow.com/?p=77#respond Thu, 20 May 2010 19:02:40 +0000 http://mobilisenow.com/?p=77 In this article I want to establish some practical principles of intercession. Perhaps some of the greatest issues to address as intercessors are, true unity of spirit and purpose, and what the spirit of religion has done to our thinking. Both of these issues need to be addressed.

1st of all the issue of unity

We have to understand that Jesus ever lives to intercede for the saints Heb7v25 and He came as an intercessor Is59 v16-17. Is it possible He wants to use His body in the ministry of intercession He is now involved in? Of course He does!

So how does He do this?

He said He would send another Comforter, Helper, Advocate , Standby, Strengthener, Counsellor, INTERCESSOR to be with us John 16v7 (Amplified).

The Holy Spirit is the One who directs the prayers God wants prayed on this earth through His people. The Spirit prays with and through those who will yield to Him.

If we read Romans 8v26, the Word says that the Spirit helps us in our weakness (or inability) for we do not know what prayer to pray nor how to pray it worthily.

That word “helps” is the Greek word “sunantilambanomai” which means He takes hold of together with us against. What a wonderful thought, I allow Him to use my body, soul and spirit for His work and I get to ride in the Holy Spirit bulldozer as He comes and pushes mountains out the way. This is a bit like the mouse and elephant, who were friends, and walked across a bridge together. When they got to the other side the mouse looked up at his friend the elephant, and said, “My we really shook that bridge up didn’t we!”

If the Holy Spirit is allowed to work through us like this then Rom 8v28 applies. “We are assured and know that God being a partner in their labour, all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His design and purpose”. Read Colossians 4v12. Paul calls this type of prayer labour. So the labour referred to here, is the labour of praying in partnership with the Holy Spirit. And by involving God in the issues prayed for, there will be a favourable outcome.

Romans 8v27 says, ”The Spirit intercedes and pleads before God on behalf of the Saints in perfect accordance with God’s will.” How does He do this?

The best way He does this, is by inspiring us in our prayer language, and giving us utterance.

1Cor14v14 Says, “If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit by the Holy Spirit within prays.” (Amplified). This means we bypass our intellect and understanding. This is an act of the highest humility and trust in God. Many people think the Holy Spirit is incapable of doing the job if they do not understand everything that is being prayed.

This causes them not to use their prayer language very much, if at all. Read 1Cor14v18.

Once we have prayed in the Holy Spirit and discerned the mind of Christ we can pray in the understanding. Paul says to pray first in the Spirit then in the understanding. How often do we do it that way around?

At Babel God confused the language of the people. This was to scatter them Gen11v7-8. In verse 6 of Genesis 11 God says, “They are one people with one language, this is only the beginning of what they will do and now nothing they have imagined will be impossible for them”. Once the new Covenant was established, God reverses this by giving people languages inspired by the Holy Spirit Acts 2v4. His plan is to unify all things in Christ Eph1v10. We need to note this and yield to this desire of God. The language of the Holy Spirit unifies!

Imagine what is possible to us who believe, when we are unity with God, and with one another!

As an intercession leader it has being my experience that people can accept what has just being discussed but battle with the practical aspect of it.

If we were to get 20 mature Christians together to decree governmentally into their county school program, some of the possible issues that would arise could be: should the schools be privatised? Should faith schools be allowed? What about parents who want to home school? Should we have a grammar school? Should pupils be bussed in from less privileged areas? What about the carbon footprint?

There is potential here for conflicting prayers and decrees to be made.

Why is this?

Generally Christians pray from their own perspective, intellect and understanding.

What would happen if using this same scenario we set some ground rules.

1 God is bigger smarter and wiser than us. Lets find His mind on these matters and say only what He shows us.

2. We want our prayers to be not only accurate, but also presented correctly, so we will allow the Holy Spirit to pray in and through us.

The above two conditions if agreed upon, would create the necessary agreement and will to work in unity in this matter even if some of the people praying had strongly held and opposing views. This would negate the need for “Democracy” and everyone to express their strongly held point of view, which ultimately causes division and fragmentation in the Body of Christ.

So if we can go beyond our personal prayer language into the prayer language of the Holy Spirit (Intercessor) we partner with the Holy Spirit (God) to pray the perfect will of God for that situation. We allow the Holy Spirit to orchestrate and conduct the prayer until the job is done. How do we know when He is satisfied the job is done?

He gives us the title deed to the prayer – that is the peace of God. Phil4 v 7.

So we are to partner with God in our prayers!

In childlike trust in Him and not having to work out everything with our limited minds we can do this.

2nd The issue of religion

We cannot partner with God in prayer fully if we are always sin conscious. Adam and Eve hid from God when they became sin conscious. For hundreds of years Christians have been taught by the spirit of religion, that they are sinners, saved by grace and that the heart of man is desperately wicked. For those outside of Christ this is true, but for Christians it is not.

We have been taught that repentance means wailing and moaning before God about our sin. (Nothing to do with changing our minds by the Word of God!) We have been taught that we have to obey the Ten Commandments and if we are not obedient to these and the “New Testament Commandments” (whatever those are) God won’t bless us.

Let us be done completely with the teachings of religion. Romans 6 v 3 says if we have been baptised into Christ Jesus we were baptised into His death. See verse 6 of Romans 6. That old sinner, rebel, wicked hearted man died in Christ Jesus. See Gal 2v19 and 20. Now read 2Cor5v17 which says if any man be in Christ he is a new creature altogether.

Ephesians 2 v 5 tells us that even when we were dead in our transgression He gave us the very same new life with which He raised Christ from the dead and He gave us joint seating with Him in the heavenly sphere.

So Christian believer you are a new creature alive with the same Life as Jesus has.

You are not a reconditioned sinner! You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

God doesn’t look at us and think I know you really did it but in My grace and mercy I have forgiven you, but both you and I know you are really guilty.

The Father looks at us and Says “Look at My son, look at My daughter aren’t they great!” He does this because He reckons the person who did the bad stuff dead, slain in Christ, on the cross (2Cor5v14). We are not that person now. We are a different person in His eyes. We are a brand new person in Christ (2Cor5v17). In other words, in God’s eyes, there is no more sin to even be considered for those in Christ. In Heb 9v26 the Bible tells us sin is abolished (Amplified).

As regards obeying the Law or any system of behaviour. Read Rom7v 4. When we died in Christ we also died to the Law. You see anyone who tries to be righteous by obeying the Ten Commandments (Law) or any other religious requirements, for that matter, is under a curse. Gal 3v10. So if you still desire to be righteous by obeying Law and/or any other rituals you put yourself under a curse. We the followers of Christ Jesus are not righteous by behaving right, but by believing right!

We behave righteously because we ARE righteous.

We don’t try to behave righteously to be righteous.

God wants us to be bold in His presence and to be worthy ambassadors of Christ. He wants to expand His Kingdom and make His manifold wisdom known to the powers and principalities through us His church (Ephesians 3v10). We have to carry ourselves as Sons of God and exercise authority as sons of God and His representatives on this earth.

Put religion away and rise up Intercessors and Ambassadors of Christ in the boldness and power of God!

Imagine one of the Ambassadors of Britain crawling through the door of 10 Downing Street, grabbing David Cameron’s feet, and with his head on the ground, saying, “O David, I am unworthy to stand in your presence! “ David Cameron would replace him immediately, and so he should.

Do not be an ambassador for Christ who behaves like that! That’s pathetic.

In Conclusion

We are partners and co-labourers with God. We come to Him boldly. Our prayers are to be God breathed and Spirit prayed. It is His Kingdom, and His perfect will needs to be prayed every time we pray. We can achieve this by praying first in the Spirit and then in the understanding, the order that Paul puts it in 1Cor 14 v13-15.

We have to lay aside our personal agendas and everything we have learned up to now and trust Him to lead us as we pray and intercede in this, the new season we have already entered into.

Blessings!

John Alcock
