The Importance of Every Believer Praying

If you read Mathew 6 verses 5, 6 and 7, you will see Jesus does not give us the option of praying or not praying. He says, “When you pray.” Paul writes in Ephesians 6 verse 18,  “Pray at all times in the Spirit.” This is a command and not a suggestion! Another place he commands prayer is in 1 Timothy chapter 2. Prayer is not an option. James chapter 5 verse 16 tells us that, “The heartfelt continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available.” If heartfelt gutsy prayer releases God’s power to work, we are foolish not to cooperate with and flow in this power of God.

When Jesus was on the earth, He did only what He saw the Father doing (John5v19), and spoke only what He was told to say (John 12v49 and 50).  If He was so in tune with the Father why did He need to pray? See Hebrews 5 v7. How about Paul, who says in Gal 2v20, “It is not I but Christ in me Who lives!”

Why did he need to pray? What about ourselves? Why do we need to pray?

Jesus prayed and still prays (Heb 7v25), Paul prayed and we ought to pray because our God has chosen to work through the agency of prayer. Read John 15 verse 16 and get really blessed.
